I Have been dynamically balancing props/engines for
some time now and I keep hearing from my customers how noticeable of a
change it is. I can now tell you from my own aircraft experience
that it is a huge difference. The aircraft is much smoother during all
phases of flight, but not only that, I gained 35 rpm and the tone/sound of
the aircraft is different. I am finding out that aircrew fatigue is
less after long flights. If you have not had your prop/engine
dynamically balanced, find someone that can do it for you.

Axel,
thanks again for taking a look at my airplane. It had been done by somebody else a few years ago, but they never did seem to get it quite right. It was a little embarrassing how many weights they had hung on there. You were able to remove most of the old weights and arrive at a smoother running solution in just a few test runs. After dynamic balancing, there was a noticeable drop in vibration in the cockpit in flight, and even less shimmy while idling. Your care and professionalism were terrific. Axel,
I finally got my plane back together and test flew it with the dynamically balanced engine and prop. WOW, what a difference. The plane is much smoother in flight. What little vibration is occurring is the same over the whole rpm band. No more cruising at 2500 RPM. This should make long trips much more enjoyable. Thanks for coming down to Chino to help me out.
